Meet Anne

As a child, whenever I found myself on restriction, I was always forbidden to watch tv and visit friends, but I was always allowed to read.  This combined with my penchant for mouthing off and my hatred of doing the dishes gave me lots of time devoted to books.

I spent many hours curled up in my closet reading.  The discovery of those early books remains one of the truly happy memories of my childhood.  A Wrinkle in Time, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Island of the Blue Dolphins, and anything by Lois Duncan or Christopher Pike were some of my early favorites.  Those combined with Shel Silverstein and the fabulous word-musician Dr. Seuss developed my adoration of books and my devotion to the magic of the written word.

Ever since then, I've always considered myself a writer, even though it would be years before I would start writing for the pursuit of publication.  Now, I try to write every day and I read everything I can get my hands on, including anything by Dean Koontz, Nora Roberts, Jennifer Crusie, and Barry Eisler.  Other favorites include Elizabeth Lowell, Annie Proulx, and Jodi Picoult.  Oh, and Dorothy Parker and I are old friends.

I figure that I'm a writer because life doesn't make a lot of sense to me and I've always been trying to figure it out.  I'm going to try to do some of that here, on my website.
